Pastor Mark and Janet Palmer
Our Pastor is Mark Palmer. Mark has been married to Janet since 1986 and they have six children and eleven grandchildren. Originally from Ontario, Mark and Janet moved to Cape Breton in April of 2015 with their two youngest children. Their desire is to share God’s love and the good news of God’s free gift of salvation with the people of Inverness and the surrounding area. They also want to see the Lord’s people growing and maturing together in their love for God and for one another. Mark spent 26 years in manufacturing management in the automotive and food industries before the Lord called him into full-time ministry in 2012. He began as an itinerant preacher and conference speaker and was in this ministry until moving to Cape Breton as a church planter. As an itinerant preacher, Mark spoke in many churches across Canada, the USA and Ireland, as well as at youth, men’s and family conferences and camps. Mark grew up in the Wesleyan and Pentecostal (PAOC) churches. As a young married couple, Mark and Janet attended a home church for several years before joining the Brethren Assemblies, where they remained in fellowship until 2014. In 2015 the Lord called them to Cape Breton, and Mark joined the Canadian National Baptist Convention as a church planter. Mark is Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Canadian Baptist Theological Seminary in Cochrane, Alberta. He holds a technical diploma in Quality Assurance from Durham College, a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the Ivey School of Business at Western University, and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from the Canadian Baptist Theological Seminary. Mark is also a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) candidate in homiletics at Clamp Divinity School, Anderson University, and expects to complete in May, 2025.
